Kenneth Saltmarche: Dedicated Visions

November 30, 2018 – September 29, 2019

Location: Charles & Ethel Cohen Family Gallery, 3rd floor

In celebrating 75 years of the Art Gallery of Windsor’s history, it is important to pay tribute to Kenneth Saltmarche. Over the course of a nearly forty-year career which focused on building a community presence for a public art gallery in Windsor, Saltmarche demonstrated a sustained commitment to a professional vision which informed the growth of the AGW and its collection.  Kenneth Saltmarche: Dedicated Visions reveals that he also maintained a personal aesthetic vision evident in his active pursuit of a visual art practice. This exhibition presents a range of Saltmarche’s art which demonstrates his interest in exploring several art genres over the duration of his artistic practice. Landscape, still life, official portraits as well as informal portraits of family members and acquaintances were also subjects which Saltmarche rendered in oil, watercolour and ink mediums. His artistic choices were carefully considered and presented in an engaging range of stylistic approaches developed as a means for communicating an intimate expression of a particular moment. All exhibited works are drawn from the collection of the Art Gallery of Windsor.
